LIBRARY POLICIES:

Library Cards

Anyone 5yrs or older is eligible for a PPL library card. Persons under 18 must have a parent or guardian's signature, and adults are required to show a Wisconsin Driver's License or government issues picture ID when turning in an application. A library card entitles a patron to checkout materials owned by the library. A library card alone does not grant a patron access to the Internet.

Internet Use

Any patron with a valid library card may use the Internet after signing the library's "Internet Acceptable Use Agreement". Persons under the age of 16 must have a parent or guardian's signature on this form to gain Internet access. The library does not assume any responsibility for what a child does while on the computers once a parent or guardian has signed the agreement. In addition, any person 11yrs old or younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian while using computers with Internet access.

Patrons are allotted one half hour of Internet use. Should there not be anyone waiting for use of the computers, this time limit can be extended to meet one and a half hours per day.

Persons attempting to access inappropriate materials or who log on to the computers with a card that does not belong to them will be banned from Internet use. The ban will remain in effect for as long as the library staff feels is appropriate.

Overdue/Lost/Stolen/Damaged Materials

Patrons are expected to return materials by their due dates or they will be responsible for acquired late fees or replacement costs for the items. Late fees may vary depending on what type of material has been checked out. If materials are damaged while in the care of a patron replacement charges will be applied to the appropriate account. In the case of extremely late/lost materials the library will apply a billing fee and a processing fee. In extreme cases local law enforcement may also become involved.
